Boys Varsity Wrestling · Yusuf Aladinov Reaches Wrestling Career Milestones

(Saturday March 12, 2018 – Hershey, PA)

Yusuf Aladinov (’18) headed into the 2018 PIAA State Wrestling Championships with one goal in mind -“I just wanted to advance each day and to be able to compete in all three days of the tournament,” Aladinov said.  Competing in the 195lbs weight class, Aladinov accomplished his goal. On Thursday he went 1-1 with a preliminary win vs Tyler Neglia (Wallenpaupack) and a first round loss to Nate Ansell (Connellsville).

“My strategy going into the tournament was to take it one match at a time and to soak it all in. I was never really nervous at any point during the tournament. The environment kept me hype and all of the opponents were awesome” Aladinov noted. This strategy and mindset worked as Aladinov went 2-0 on day two defeating Darrick Rudisill (New Oxford) and Nathan Mankey (North Hills).

Entering day three, Aladinov had already achieved his goal of competing in all three days of the tournament. However, two career milestones were within reach: How high could he place and would he reach 100 career wins? Falling to Elijah Jones (Boyertown) in the first match of the day, Aladinov entered his final match against Mitchell Talbot (Central Dauphin) with a 7th place finish and his 100th career win at stake. Watch the final seconds of his match.

Congratulations Yusuf on a great showing at PIAA Championships and on an outstanding career (100-45)!
